Prepare

See Step 10 for instructions on how to throw away (dispose of) the used SAPHNELO PEN.
Select a clean, well-lit, flat work surface, such as a table.
Check the expiration date (EXP) on the carton. Check the carton for damage.
Let SAPHNELO PEN come to room temperature for 60 minutes before injecting. Keep SAPHNELO PEN in original carton to protect from light.
Open the carton and remove SAPHNELO PEN by gently grasping the middle of the device.
Check the expiration date on SAPHNELO PEN. Check SAPHNELO PEN for damage.
Check the liquid through the viewing window. The liquid should be clear and colorless to slightly yellow. It is normal to see small air bubbles in the liquid.
You or your caregiver can inject in the front of your thigh or the lower part of your stomach (abdomen).
A caregiver may also inject you in your upper arm. Do not try to inject yourself in the upper arm.
Choose an injection site that is at least 1 inch (3 cm) away from where you last injected.
Do not inject:
Wash your hands well with soap and water.
Clean the injection site with an alcohol wipe or with soap and water. Let the site air dry.

SAPHNELO is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with moderate to severe systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus) who are receiving other lupus medicines.
It is not known if SAPHNELO is effective in patients with severe active lupus nephritis or severe active central nervous system lupus. It is not known if SAPHNELO is safe and effective in patients under 18 years of age.
